PS4 Storage Upgrade

PS4 Storage Upgrade

how’s it going everybody YouTube it’s
your man alright with another video from Techswavey today’s video we’re going
to be of upgradeing a PlayStation 4 and I’m also going to tell you the comparisons
between the pro and the original and original ps4 so stick around
and hopefully you learn something new all right everybody I have a PlayStation
4 original and the ps4 Pro yes both of these systems have been out for a while
which the original four has been out longer than the pro the main difference between them is the playstation 4 the original had the it has a one
1.66 gigahertz CPU while the pro has a 2.1 gigahertz the graphic card on the ps4
it has a 1.84 teraflops and the graphics card while the pro has a one-point
excuse me has a 4.2 teraflops the PlayStation 4 comes with 500 gigabytes
while the slimmer model has 500 and also one terabyte most of most of the time 2
terabyte come with in a bundle while the pro only comes in a one terabyte the ps4
has three USB no excuse me 2 USB cable water Pro has three USB they
both do HDR but the places in for pro that’s 4k and upscaling what I mean by
upscaling is they do a checkerboard process to raise the graphics up to 4k
while the regular ps4 runs natively at at 1080 1080P Full HD resolution sorry if
you like me you tend to have a couple games or you want to get a new game and
you always have to delete a game on your ps4 inorder for you to
install your new game or even install updates and it gets really tiring even
right now just got the new god of war game out but I had to delete a game so
while I ordered to get him to come in I also ordered an HGST travelstar one
terabyte runs at 7200 rpm want to replace my places in four you could
replace your original ps4 hard drive with a 2.5 hard drive or always have one
around a 3.5 dumb you would have to have a converted to change it to a 3.5 2.5
hard drive and tends to run a little bit more than the 3.5 if you have if you
could find a 3.5 that’s cheap the converter don’t cost that much and you
could just convert it out and as simple I will show you step by step on how to
do it and I will also have all the information and everything that I’m
gonna be using and the description down below all right to get on with this process of
upgrading your ps4 hard drive you will need a 3.5 hard drive Oh a 2.5 hard
drive your toolkit or just a Philips mostly you would need you micro USB
cable a ps4 controller you need USB flash drive the reason you need the
flash drive because you will have to get the files from the computer sorry it
just popped up I don’t know where just confuse me and like I said you will need
a computer or a laptop or you could go to your friend house to get that until
you download the file so you can update your system so on with the process
alright everybody now we on my desktop the first step is to download the file
the ps4 firmware you go to go to Google Chrome or whatever Explorer you would
like to use download the file you go to go to Google type in ps4 system update
and it should be the first one and it’s going to take you right to the website
don’t download the top one because it tends to have problems so scroll all the
way down so where you see this little step-by-step formula it so it also shows
you how to format your USB to put the file in there so your system could read
after you install the hard drive so you just hit download depends on your
internet connection you see how fast your file a download all right you could drag it to your
desktop and leave it or leave it wherever is that I’m up on my on the
desktop now you are after you install your USB hard drive oh that’s amazing all right don’t so inside the USB you
gonna open create a new folder you are name it ps4 everything needs to be in
capital letters inside the PS folder you gonna create another folder
and your going to name that folder update again capitalized then you’re gonna drag your file and on
into the hard drive excuse me until your USB and you’re gonna need to name that file
PS4UPDATE.PUP exactly and the best way you could do that is by copy and paste be still waiting for the file to finish
transferring to the USB now we gonna rename it you could just
right-click the file and hit paste hit enter and that’s all to it of putting
the file inside the USB the next step is actually taking apart a ps4 so you could
swap out your hard drive alright everybody like I said the next step we
actually gonna take apart the ps4 so that you could install your new hard
drive the reason why I have both out is show you how to actually it’s upgrade
your hard drive on both let me start on the pro because the real upgrade is not going to done on the pro with the pro all you could take is the
2.5 hard drive these little ones right here out of just a regular hard drive or
the SSD they’re the hard drive is placed in the back under this little flat don’t
you pry that open you see a small loose right here like I said just our regular
Phillips would work is nothing major remove the screw we pull out the slot
and then there’s four screws that’s holding the hard drive in you just
remove the screws place the hard drive in the same way put the screws back in
on each side then you slide right back in and that’s how you upgrade your PS
pro hard drive like I said this video is to upgrade the original ps4 so now let’s get on to the PlayStation 4
unlike the PS pro the ps4 hard drive is right upfront so you’re going to squeeze
down and and pull out the top it’s easily removable and this is where your
hard drive is with this PSN screw you got us see all the the button logos
around the screw take your your screwdriver and then you just pull out this little
nuts and it comes out like I said you have four screws on each side just like
the pro now that’s if you want to replace it with 2.5 hard drive
let’s say if you bought the converter and you want to replace it with this
with a 3.5 hard drive instead a 2.5 it comes with this little 2.5 converter so
you take this and slide it in and once you slide in there’s gonna be a little
screw right here this screws right here it’s gonna be a little empty hole then
you want to take this screw and you’ll screw it down I’m not gonna screw it
down because I’m actually gonna put that 2.5 onion then on the bottom you see a
little connector I mean see if I can get it right like right there and it’s gonna
lined up with this connection so pretty much you go yeah yeah I get it from my
angle cuz you got these little nuts for the vents in the back so I got it catch
it from the back and you drop it down don’t after that after you drop it down
you gotta push it in and you could just pull this out and you want to get 3.5
hard drive just slide in and you might hear that snap then you want to take
this slide back unlike the original 2.5 hard drive that
works with the regular power supply but this one you’re going this hard drive to
3.5 you are going to need more power so that’s why they give you a lowered after that you
plug right into the same socket that you plug your regular power supply cord then
you plug your power cord into this and that is going to power both the system
and a 3.5 hard drive so right now let’s replace the system with a 2.5 hard drive
like I said unscrew all four you don’t have to worry about organizing
because each side each screw is the same size and make sure when you take it out you
notice how you’re taking it out so you get a place the new hard drive right in
there sit it in slide in then you put this four screws back which I line up the holes correctly and one if you’re doing the dining go
and I hold both sides in place so you don’t have to keep holding one side if
you just both side then you have to hold this in so if you do it diagonal it oh
yeah hold it nice in place so you could just put the other ones in and I have a
hard time screwing it down so I save at the time of watching me try to find a
screw and screw all four screws in I forgot to take this out you sit the hard drive
in and you slide it in and that’s all it takes
now to install of the software so now this is where I mean turn this on
this is where I said you are need your USB cable and your PS4 controller storage cannot be accessed I forgot all right now you’re going to press and
hold the power button and I think you hear the second beep you
just let it go and it’s to take you to the safe mode you press the PS button
then is we want to take your down to initialize you click go to the right
click ok then after that is going to start updating your system so is this
gonna take a little while gonna tell you that the system is ready
to install so you just wanna click yes in the set take a distance so you can
continue with the installation and it’s gonna erase everything that has already
been on your hard drive if it’s a new hard drive you don’t really ask for
everybody cuz it’s completely empty so is it gonna reinstall everything and if
it is a new hard drive the installation process is pretty fast unlikely if you
had a full hard drive with a whole bunch of data in there you were to take a little bit
longer but with the empty hard drive it move a lot faster and with the 72 RPM
the low time is faster as well so we just want to wait until everything is
done and now the system is finally booting then with the PS button you just turn it
on hit okay and just hit continues like how you set up a new system and you’re
basically done so thank you for watching please subscribe like and set a video
and I’ll keep creating new content and if you have any comments please place them
at the bottom and I try to get back to you as soon as possible have a good one.
